Cassava has the answer to the economic problem of Nigeria. From the over 84 million hectares arable land available in Nigeria,
if 5 million is devoted to the production of Industrial Cassava and if we are able to reap 40 metric tonnes of cassava from a hectare
of farmland, it implies that we shall have 200,000,000 metric tonnes per year.”
Hence, the Nigeria Cassava Growers Association (NCGA) and Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) creation of a number of programmes to increase the production of Cassava in Nigeria. These programmes were structured to support Cassava farmers by increasing their capacity in terms of yields from their farms and also guaranteeing profit from such production.
